I think his viral load is so low it's virtually undetectible. His chances of passing it on to others is also very low because of the low viral load. Wonders of science? Maybe. Wonders of being loaded $$$ - yes.

You can never be rid of HIV once infected, but you can keep it from turning into AIDS as Magic Johnson has sucessfully done. Thanks to modern medicine he is still alive and well.

1991, he had acquired the HIV virus. Nearly 20 years later, he no longer has traces of the virus in his body. He beat the epidemic through treatments and living healthy.
