  • I am not sure about renting prom dresses, but the phone book is always a great resource for that, especially in a bigger city. I do know of quite a few consignment shops that sell prom dresses for cheap, maybe even cheaper than renting (you may need to take into consideration a dry cleaning with that price as well). Or you could always borrow. Good luck!

  • You can try renting from a private individual locally using a site like rentnotbuy.co.uk, e.g. http://rentnotbuy.co.uk/rental/list/39 That usually quite a bit cheaper than chain rental shops (and often you can get better quality too). I did this for a formal dinner I had to attend int he US and it worked out very well for me. Cl

  • A lot of bridal stores will rent out bridesmaid dresses and prom dresses, just like they rent out suits for the guys. Pick up your phone book and start calling these places, and ask if they rent out bridesmaid dresses. Make a list of the ones that do, and then shop around. Visit all of the stores before making a purchase to avoid later disappointment. Good luck. If that fails, you could ask around and find people who have already been to a prom, and who have their prom dresses lying around. They might be willing to lend theirs to you.
