  • Yes it is.
  • Yes. There is a Tivo unit made specifically for DirecTV, although DTV has discontinued it in favor of their own DVR, these can still be found for sale, both new and used. Furthermore, a normal Tivo (commonly called a stand-alone - NOT a DirecTivo) can control a DirecTV receiver and record shows off of it. For more info on Tivo and it's functionality, visit the Tivo Community forums at : www.tivocommunity.com .
  • YES Is is. I did it. I have an Directv H21 and a Series 2 reciever. Directv told me the USB port in the back is inactive- it is active I am using it. Tivo said the tivo can't communicate through the USB, again it can, I am doing it. I bought the convertor from Paterson Technology plugged it into the USB on the satelite reciever and connected it to the Serial cable sent by Tivo. It worked immediately. I am not a techy by any means and I was able to do this, just don't listen to Directv and Tivo.
