I think my freedom and my dignity perhaps matter more than life itself. I could live on if I lost my family, partner, friends and so on (I'd be upset of course, but I'd not just give up on my life). I can imagine though, that after a few years trapped in an old folks home having to wear a nappy and be spoon-fed I would prefer slipping out of this world to continuing breathing...
