No, they do not. Lately in the news there has been some controversy over this as there is now way to tell if someone has been convicted of things like sex crimes. Some feel that this would encroach on peoples' rights if background checks were performed. So I suppose that you just have to hope that everyone is being honest. (And you will run into liars. It is the nature of the internet.) Maybe in the future, but probably not.
