  • If the child is doing things which are not permitted by your store then you should speak to their mother about it gently. Never address the child as this can make the parent defensive.
  • Speak to the parent if her child is being disruptive, however if the child is not being disruptive it is neither your place or a good idea to attempt to reprimand the child or the parent.
  • Let the parent know that the child is not following proper conduct for the store, and they have to leave, or behave. Never speak to a minor child without the parents' permission.
  • No and the best thing to do (as hard as it is) is to ignore it. I'm very certain the parent is aware of their horrible behavior and would not appreciate any comments. Plus you don't know what caused it. I'll give you an example. Our dog died 3 days before x-mas 4 years ago. It was poisoned by a neighbor who was trying to rid himself of stray cats. Some poison drifted over to our yard and our dog ate it. She died at the vets office in our arms. My kids were hysterical in the car but I had to stop and get carpet cleaner to get rid of the vommit from the dog. My kids were too little to leave in the car so they had to go with me. All three children were crying, screaming, etc but due to grief. Another shopper stormed up to me and gave me her 2 cents about childrens behavior in public. Boy was she embarassed after I informed her of why they were acting that way, and she received a bunch of negative comments from others who heard the arguement.
  • I also have this problem daily. I follow the child closely and if they touch ANYTHING I say loud enough for mom to hear "Is your mommy going to buy that for you, it's kind of expensive?" This usually gets moms attention. If that doesn't work, I stand by mom and broadcast what her child is up to.
  • Ask the security guard to confront them.Or the manager of the bank.I would not do it by your self that might cause problems. This way she feels embarassed and controls him if they go into the bank.
