Probably several reasons. Not least because the popular wisdom is that it's really painful - true or not - if people are told something is really painfl they're going to be fairly reluctant to give it a go. I suspect a lot of women come across their first experience of anal sex by accident rather than design - and only later discover that it isn't as painful as they'd been led to believe. Having said that I think some women do find it a lot more uncomfortable than others (we're all built differently) - and your tolerance varies from time to time as well - at certain times of the month you're often more sensitive, and possibly less likely to want to do it. Secondly, that whole anal/ poo thing can be a bit difficult to get over when we're taught as kids that it's the height of grossness. I know of many men who are reluctant to perform anal sex because of the poo thing (I also know several who are worried it'll make them gay, but there you go...) Then there's the fact that there are a lot of guys out there trying anal sex and getting it wrong. It's not as easy as normal sex - it's a slower process, usually needs some form of lube, and you have to go a bit gentler. If a woman's had a bad experience with some bloke trying to thrust a whole eight inches into her from cold, with no lube and no preperation and getting annoyed because she doesn't like it - well she's fairly unlikely to want to give it another go. Plus there's the extra risk of infection, and the fact that if you do it too often you can actually cause problems down there (I'm talking like several times a week here though mind...) But you know, I've flown the flag for it here often enough - maybe I've persuaded a couple more women to give it a whirl. We all have different tastes though.
