  • it can either help a lot or hurt a lot.
  • Don't. Go to a salon. Too much chemicals can be very damaging.
  • Go to a hair salon store like Sally's...They usually have a toner you can add to your hair dye which removes unwanted colors like red, orange, and tones down brassiness. Ask someone there, they are always very helpful and knowledgable.
  • Have it professionally done. Color will not remove color-period. Color removers don't always work, as the color molecules resurface when you rinse the neutralizer out. There are 2 parts to a color remover, the remover and the neutralizer. Red is the hardest color to remove. Even with bleach, it will stop at the "red orange" stage. Don't do it..please
  • Yeah this question is 2 yrs old but I am answering anyway. First, It would help to know what level your copper red color is, second, what level brown are you trying to reach? As a stylist, I will say you are way better off correcting this at a salon than at home, just find a stylist that specializes in corrective color. Professional hair color and color maintenance products are far less damaging than you think. Also, you may find it surprising in your case that it may not be necessary to "remove" the cooper/red to get to a brown, it just depends on whether or not you want your brown to be a cool or warm brown. And sssherri, "Do it yourself" applications are the culprit when it comes to hair damage, not professional hair salons.
