How likely am I to get pregnant eleven days before my period?

    Depending on when you ovulate in your cycle, it is quite likely. The first part of your cycle involves building up the lining of the uterus, and somewhere *around* the halfway point of your cycle (it differs with individual women) you will ovulate. Menstruation is the body's reaction to not receiving a fertilised egg, where the uterus sheds its lining. Once this is complete, the cycle starts again.

    Any semen entering your vagina from 2 - 3 days before your ovulation, until the ovum (egg) has passed out of your body, can fertilise the egg and cause you to become pregnant. Since the average menstrual cycle is around 28 days, 11 days before it is well over halfway, and there is a good chance you've ovulated by this time. If you have sex during this time, it is quite likely that you could fall pregnant.
