  • I can only speak for the Cherokee tribe, but from my experience, you need to trace your ancestry back to someone who was registered on the tribal rolls. I'm sure other tribes have similar requirements. Contact the tribal government for whatever tribe you think you belong to and they can probably help you out - or at least point you in the right direction. Good luck!
  • Run a search on 'native american ancestry' and several sites should present themselves. I can't speak for the quality or value for money of each site, but there are several of them.
