They should not. Because of its curly/wavy structure, African American hair is much drier, and much more delicate than the hair of other ethnic groups. African Americans should use hair products that moisturize and condition the hair. I just use conditioners from Suave, VO5, and some organic lines. Sometimes I find better products in the AA hair section, but too often they have mineral oil or petroleum biproducts as a major ingredient. Mineral oil can clog pores and prevent moisture from getting into the hair. (And petroleum as a hair product just sounds gross.) It depends on the person, as with anything else, and some places don't offer products for African Americans because there aren't many in the region. (We also breathe the same air as other ethnicities. Neat, huh?)
