• It's Macchu Picchu.. or maybe I better look that up. I once *almost* went there. Three years ago me and two of my friends booked flights and an "adventure trip" we were going to ride horses up the mountains. It's very treacherous, but also visually breathtaking once you reach the top. Anyway, my friends bailed and I didn't want to go alone - even if it was a group. Such a bummer : (

• I would have given anything to almost have gone there. I hope you make it there some day and you can tell me about how beautiful it is. I see the pictures and the history that surrounds it and it seems magical.

• Thanks Babycakes, but it's probably last on my list. I think Grand Canyon and Yosemite are more doable. LOL : )
  But I would love to go to Macchu Picchu. It's just so expensive. Like $5,000 to $6,000. At least that's what my trip would have costs (I don't like to rough it too much : )
  Maybe someday. Hope I'm not to old to climb mountains by then!

• I used to have a boyfriend who moved to Alaska from New York. He fell in love with the place and was forever trying to get me to move there. He described the Aurora as a spectrum of "never before seen colors undulating in the heavens". Sounded like a spiritual experience. I don't think I could handle the 24 hour days or nights though.

• Well, it also depends on what part you're in. I lived in Ketchikan, the southeast part. days were definitely longer/shorter, but you got a decent amount of light/darkness. It's when you go farther up! OF course, the farther up you go the clearer you can see the lights. I have never been more north of Anchorage.

• Nothing comes to mind. As a kid/teen we did a lot of traveling around the USA so I've seen most of the big ones in the 'States (Grand Canyon, Rushmore, etc). Wouldn't mind re-visiting the Carlsbad Caverns.

• I've seen pictures, yes. Never been though, nor do I know anyone who has been (or thought of!). There's so much history with the Inca Empire, and the architecture is unique at best. I'm not particularly fond of history myself, but I can certainly appreciate the scenery! You seem to be intrigued by a lot of diverse places...
