I would guess either star trek or star wars. The reason for this is because of their diversity of species, one of them has to be close to correct (if any are)

I would say the blob. reasoning would be we have sent many probes and nothing even close to a human form has ever been recorded. I would think any life-form from another planet would be something we would never guess to be a life form by looks alone.

Andromeda Strain. I think a single celled organism that can survive in space would be highly probable.

It would depend on the type of environment the alien was from. Life on a nuetron star would be a lot different than any alien I have ever seen portrayed in film.

The movie Predator where Arnold battles an alien life form that has the ability to turn invisible and blend in with its environment! He kills it in the end and it asks what the hell are you to Arnold!

The aliens in the movie Aliens

The Thing. Which is, when you get down to it. Is truly alien to earth, and highly inimical. One alien pathogen could destroy all of life on earth.

The Halo Series

I'd say Star Gate and Enemy Mine. Most Star Gate aliens are basically just humans with small variations. But there are apparently several other classes of intelligent beings, like the Asgard of Stargate and the dracs of E. M.
