Hackers, I need your help. My son got into my laptop and somehow changed my log-on password. He doesnt know how. How can I either change it or find out what he put as new password. Windows xt, I dont want to lose any info on it. thanks

You have a huge problem. When you switch on your computer hit F8 repeatedly and boot into Safe Mode, go to Control Panel and make a new account with Administrator privileges and leave a comment here for the next stage - it going to be really time consuming but you can get everything back.

Well, there some ways you can reset the password but that would require a guy that knows Widows pretty well. Another way you can do is by checking out the following site: http://www.password-reset.com/?gclid=CPf_9bmC4I8CFQHmhgodOkbd0w - I have never used them but they seem to know what they are talking about. I would check the BBB or the reviews on the site before I go with it. If all else fails, contact MicroSoft they can help you with this.

hmmm.. well... there are password reset disks.... just find a free one (google it), download and burn to a disk and boot off it.... not so hard....

for your own safety this time make password something he would have no clue no a pets name, family name, no bith dates etc use radom upper,lowercase letters, a number or two and maybe a symbol to top it off. if you must write it down, put in a locked safe, card in a locked drawer etc, some where he has no excess. then make him a guest account if he is going to be allowed to use laptop and go to the web site for some good programs to install to keep and eye on him while he surfs www.snapfiles.com go to the freeware section parental controls

he must have a password cracking cd's,first search in his room if u find it just go into the files and make some permanent change(like add some words)there,second thing u must do that lock ur cd drive,it is very easy,so next time he will not be able to open the cd drive and can not hack ur password.

Well you could try this little trick: 1) Start your computer 2) Keep pressing F8 as soon as you turn it on 3) Select Safe Mode at the top It will come up with a load of white writing, ignore that and leave it to continue which may take several minutes. 4) When it loads with the login screen, if you have the logon type where you have to click on your name, there should be one called Administrator, click on it and it should load. From there i think you know how to change your password in control panel, email me if you dont. If you have to type your Username and Password then type Administrator in the Username without a password and it should login.
