I am having a problem with copying a DVD-R that was recorded from a VHS to a DVD+R

my burner stops responding during burns. gets really slow all of a sudden and the 5 mins left turns into 30 hours. vista, toshiba.

I recently recorded a program on a SV200 dvd recorder from a vhs tape. It was recorded on a Philips dvd+r and a TDK dvd-r blank. Playback was fine for both on the SV2000. Neither of them played on my Toshiba player. Why?
