Children are children. Fantasy is a part of growing up.Nothing wrong with the concept of Santa giving children gifts for Christmas if they have not been naughty but nice. However, I do believe many parents give way to many things to their children when they really can't afford it.

yes and why would it be wrong

I think it is just part of lying to children and starting them from an early age to not believe you and not setting a strong foundation of trust and security. It's so different than reading a story to children about folk tales or fairy tales, imagination is a wonderful thing. But to pretend and bring it into day to day life, forcing a child to believe that there really is a man that comes down a chimney or invites you to sit on his lap? I don't think it is a good thing.

No, I dont think it's right. Why? Beacause you're lying to your kid making him think that some magical creature is watching his every move and knows whether he's been "naughty or nice". Then after your kid has reached a certain age you have to tell him everything was a lie and that it was always you who brought him presents. Major dissapointment, what if his friends tell him before you do? I'd rather have him be surprised by ME on christmas morning...(not by ME literally, but with what I bought him/her)
