Ginger is now playing with our late doggie Lord Admiral Nelson (my AB name and avatar is he) who we lost a few months ago. He was old, blind and just worn out. Having to put him to sleep was one of the hardest things I've had to do. You have my sympathy and empathy. It's emotionally very hard. You've lost a child, but I'm sure you gave her a good life. You have a new puppy, hopefully it will bring you as much joy as Ginger did. Trust me, this new little character will help ease your loss a bit. Naturally, you will grieve and feel sad but that is normal. I don't believe in heaven for dead people or dogs.. but your dog is no longer suffering or in pain. Animal euthanasia is one of the kindest acts that an owner can carry out for a faithful friend.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole. They play together all day. There is only one thing missing: They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. Each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. What an outstandingly beautiful girl! I used to have a dog named Ginger too, when I was a kid...family dog (well, mostly my Mom's dog!) She was smart, strong, loyal, brilliant at learning...and I can see YOUR Ginger has all of these qualities too...It's in her eyes! I'm sorry for your loss, I know too well how horrible it feels right now especially... I know that when the time is right you will probably find yourself wanting another dog...and when that day comes, Miss Ginger will look down and be wagging her behind...knowing that she loved you so well...she ADDICTED YOU to that special love that a companion animal gives every day to the family...
