I haven't been in this situation but I may be able to put a different slant on it. After her husband died my sister couldn't go to the places that they used to enjoy going to together for about five years.

Well I work with my ex, so it's kind of hard to distance myself, and yet I have been okay so far. I've learned to look at him as a new person... a friend, not a partner. I would say if seeing him, or being in those places makes you uneasy, then you just haven't gotten over him and accepted that he has moved on... and that's perfectly fine. Wait until you feel ready. Just remember you can't live life by avoiding it... You'll get to a point where the thought of running into him won't make you upset... You'll get there.
