One of the limits is the laser - the higher the frequency if the laser, the smaller the feature size and hence th4 more data can be packed into a given area.Why not use the laser which will provide the highest capacity? Cost, The kind of X-ray laser which would provide the highest capacity currently achievable would cost of the order of 100 million dollar. Higher capacity costs.
no, it is based on the type of disk you buy. cds are smaller than DVDs. i think a CD holds 80mb .... but dont quote me on that one

You're reading Is the limit to storage capacity on discs such as CDs, DVDs, simply the type of laser used? In which case why not use the laser that would provide the highest capacity?
