  • i presonally prefer comedy + romance + school life or magic anime...i dont really like mecha anime except GUNDAM..lol
  • hmmm...mine's more on music eg. NANA comedy + romance + school life osso nice la... but i osso like shoujo-ai (gurl-to-gurl) strawberry panic, kannazuki no miko, kashimashi ~girl meets girl~ r some of me fav ^^ Shiznat 4eva XD
  • I like School life type. Of the many animes that I had seen using the School Life concept, none has yet to disappoint me except maybe for School Days. Killed me if you want to but I still think School Days is bad. It is not because of its controversial ending but more on the plot development. I had played the game and completed most of the endings. So hence it could be the reason that I put a higher standard for this anime but it then fails to impress me even one bit. Shoujo and Shounen genres are typical in all animes. For Shoujo, NANA is a good series to start off with. If you want you could also try Mai Otome (Forget about Mai Hime, the serial is better!). Shounen genres are better if we paired it up with the detective concept. A good example would be either Detective Conan or even Kindaichi. Mecha- wise, I would not watch anything else except for Gundam. Unless they are personally recommended by friends from my inner circle like Raxelphon, chances are that I would never think of watching any others. I have seen the rest of the genre but personally I would still prefer animes that are more philosophical. This kinds of anime makes me think and relate to them indepth. I do not like funny comedy animes that pokes fun at the current affairs or trends and have no plot to begin with. That would be horrid like Azumanga Daiyoh or even Lucky Star. Sure, they may be good but only for the short- term.
  • I've liked or loved at least one anime from each you listed and more. Personally it all comes down to plot. If the plot is likeable and progresses somewhere (even if its from middle-school girl to alien vampire law-enforcement) I will like it. I am not a fan of shounen-ai, sport, or horror besides the occassional amazing creation. Most of those either have storylines thinner than the animation cells they are captured on, drag hopelessly slow with merely repetetive non-sense, or are filled with the complete pointlessness that can only be matched by good old 'reality' TV. Also if it's just school life, I tend to be driven mad in the first episode by it all; regardless of plot. I lived school, I now work in a real school in Japan, I do not need a fake representation of that which extends drama into everyday life to a point that not over 1% of any watcher could survive without going permenantly to a mental hospital. That said, I loved Mimi o sumaseba and now watch 'Shugo Kyara' every Saturday morning. (^_^)
  • Shugo Chara! Hah yes, that magical girl genre anime. I gave that up around episode six. It just feels weird watching it for someone of my age. >.<" And also mimi o sumaseba? By any chance is it Minami Ke?
  • IMO... Anime, like Metal, is far too small a genre to box yourself into one or even a few little sub-groups. Watch (and listen) freely. It IS okay to like everything. Liking only Mech, or only Shounen, or only Extreme Prog Hardcore Death is really... a shame.
  • Normally the kinds I watch have poetic/intellectual scripts, fair detail, a balance of action and thought, oh yeah and violence. Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Paranoia Agent, Samurai Shamploo, Neon Genesis Evangelion, etc.
  • With a bit of everything: Action, Romance, Mechas, School Girls, Shoujo Ai, Swords, Vampires....
  • I like shounen's better because i'm a guy. One exception is Chobits. It's girly and all, but i don't care!!! I asked once before on this site, and someone told me it's shounen, but i'm still not sure. I'm more of a mix-type. I like action, comedy, some ecchiness, some romance, and science-fiction(sure, magical girlfriend animes and mangas are okay, but i prefer them to be shounen).
  • Horror anime is great. Hellsing, Midnight Detective, Bleach and Vampire Hunter D are good examples. Great ones from other genres include Inuyasha, Speed Racer & Gatchaman (redone as Battle of the Planets) which really are the two that opened up anime to the US but there are older greats too such as Gigantor.
  • I like mainly shounen, some shoujo, action and comedy, as well as magic-fantasy and adventure.
  • What about Hentai?... lol, just kidding around : P I love Sci-fi stuff.
  • I love Maho-Shöjo!
  • shoujo, romance, comedy and a little shounen from time to time :D
  • mecha combined with a little of everything to make it seem to have more realism
  • romance, comedy, supernatural, fantasy, yaoi, shounen,
  • Ill go with adventure mixed with some comedy and mecha in it as well !! just like Eureka Seven
  • Shounen and Shoujo are the best. Action & Romance. I love comedy too
  • I'll go with mind fuck. Maybe with a bit of action thrown in
