Well, ive my hard drive through three x box's and played half of the games that have come out and have been able to save my progress for each without having to erase anything. Its crazy. As long as you dont have a hole lot of other stuff such as music and extra content one harddrive should last you a while.

It would all depend on the size. Different games, take up a different amount of space.
