The first thing a mother when her kittens are born is clean them, and grooming remains the main bonding mechanism among felines. Cynics will tell you that the cat is simply enjoying your sweat, however you will note that cats unfamiliar with you will not lick, despite the sweat, and your cat will, regardless of whether or not you are perspiring. This is a strong indication that your cat is simply indicating its attachment to you in the way it learned from its mother -- by 'grooming' your face.
