    Same reason for loving fairy tales, they are not everday and normal - but exciting and green.

    I don't think they love them particularly much compared to all the other animals they are offered - bears, cats, dogs, elephants etc. It is just that we adults realise that dinosaurs are not furry and cuddly, unlike cats. But to a child, a stuffed plush dinosaur is no more and no less lovable than a stuffed plush cat, so the treat them equally - to our surprise. Slightly larger boys may take to them because they are the only animals which are unequivocally big, bad, and dangerous, Lions and tigers are so - but they are also just big versions of cuddly kittens. Bears are dangerous - except they are too close to teddies. But a dinosaur is badass all the way.
