Oh Boy! If I pay for gas, can I hop on for a ride?
Avatar Orlok Mar, 27 2009 at 06:26 AM
Okay, but on the road don't look at the other cars. Let them look at us. Aloof, man, aloof.

While I do have a 66 GTO convertible and am of course biased, if you are looking at the cheapest to maintain and restore, it'd be hands down the camaro. That said, pick the one you most like and keep in mind some cars bring a lot of $$ if you fix them up, a return on investment, so if you ever want to sell you can get some of your $$ back.

If any of you GTO guys has a 69 GTO convertible that needs a new home, send em an email! Yes, I know how much they cost (30-35k), but for the right car, that's not a problem.

Weren't there several songs about the GTO, too?

If that.. maybe 7-8. 442 stock engine, could be turned into a Ram-air jetblaster in two hours by a ten year old.

That film is just a showcase of cars to drool over.

The chicken on the hood kind of made me shy away from it.

Avatar Koz_Dracon - Nelson Remembered Nov, 10 2007 at 03:00 AM

Speaking of death machines, my friend does happen to have a 1969 Olds 442. It gets about 5 or 6 miles to the gallon, and many of us gearheads have tweaked everything on it, including removing the A/C system and fattening out the vacuum advance so that it doesn't run so rich.
This is what I'm in the ballpark of. A real head turner with $3000 rims and racing tires:

That's a pretty lame picture because it has stock tires.

I remember now. It's all coming back to me. My dad had a Fury III with a 383 but that was a "Family" car.

That was the car of choice at my high school. The Firebird was also nice but I didn't like the chicken on the hood.
Avatar Zandalee.Lonely.Lunatic.3yrs-here Nov, 10 2007 at 02:36 AM
lol.... I read it "thunderbird" instead of "firebird" lol.... I get the names mixed up! I hate Fords though.... anyway, I like the Firebird and the GTO too... I just like a Camaro better 67 was really a good year for it, and you said 70's hmmm..... the 78 was okay, but the '60's models are better.
Avatar Koz_Dracon - Nelson Remembered Nov, 10 2007 at 03:00 AM
I think that only in the 70's were all three models out on the market so I had to adjust my question. I should have put in Trans Am, too.
