    G'day Momma Bear,

    Thank you for your question.

No, you should be delighted that she is showing the talent to make up songs and lyrics. Hopefully, she will grow up to be a famous singer/songwriter and buy her parents a mansion. :>)

    Regards

3-year-olds just do free-association about whatever pops into their heads; your child sounds like my two, putting the words to music. I wouldn't be at all worried personally. Once when my daughter was 3 she sang a serious 1-1/2 minute song about a recent episode where "... and my bonnom really hurt, but I couldn't poop, so I cried a little...", while I sat there trying not to laugh and wishing I had a recorder. My 3-year-old son sings about cars.
    -
I also think that even if kids mention the word "kill" when they're older they don't really know what it means, of course, and I wouldn't worry about it unless it was directed toward a particular person or pet.

I think you should be proud of her ability to make up a song and it sounds about right to me. She's obviously very talented and clever too when you think about it.. since most people are sorry, when they are not happy :)

Probably not, at 3 they don't really know. If there are any other lyrics listen to those before you get worried, if he/she seems to know things that someone of their age should not - that's when you get concerned. probably just repeating words and putting them together. It's good to be a concerned parent, trust your intuition though - I don't know you and I'm not there, if you feel there is something wrong, a mother usually knows best and take a closer look for sure. You can never be too careful.

I don't think you need to worry. 3 year olds are always making up some 'nonsense' Using thier imaginations to make up new things is an important part of brain development.

If you really worried, try to change the words when you sing along. Maybe: Be happy, or get hugged!!

    Best of luck.

    Waaaaa haaa haaaaaaa!!

    That is hysterically creative!

Excuse me.. . I'll finish answering when I stop laughing.

    Ok

It's the diplomatic version of "Stop, or I'll give you a reason to cry"...

Of course, at 3, a lot of things are sharply contrasted. I'd like to see the rest of the words.

    She may be onto something.

When I was little my mom would sometimes freak out about something i'd said or done in complete innocence. And all it ever caused was for me to wonder why she was upset and imagine all kinds of reasons why what I'd said or done was wrong. Does that make any sense? Okay for instance, If she hadn't pointed out that "It takes two to make a thing go right" was dirty and I shouldn't listen to it, i never would have thought it was about anything but dancing. But she made me realize it was about sex, and then I felt like I was dirty for listening to a silly song. So don't criticize your kids unless you see definite deviance. They probably don't even realize what they're saying isn't perfectly okay. I hope this helps...

Nah. My 4-year-old hijacked a Sunday School song a while back, so instead of something to do with the "word of God," it was the "word of Cinderella" or something like that. I think at that age, they just sing about whatever trips their trigger at the moment.

Maybe a little, but don't freak out about it.

I have a 7 year old sister, and a few weeks ago I overheard her chanting the words "Sew up the cat" under her breath.

Just because a kid gets some words or an idea into their head doesn't necessarily mean they're "Disturbed", just imaginative, as kids tend to be.
Of course, it could well mean that they're just disturbed *And* imaginative... But you get my point.

I think it's hilarious for starters. I hope that wasn't directed at other siblings for starters. It is a rather odd title for especially just a 3 year old's song. I wouldn't worry that much about it. I wouldn't encourage it but I would be interested upon how this ditty arose in the first place.

He sounds like that omnipotent little kid from the old Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life".

Seriously though, I have a cousin who was always making up really weird songs like this when he was little. Today he is a moderately successful local rapper and hip-hop producer. Go figure.

Sounds like this child heard that phrase.....and then just put it to a tune...just be mindful of what your child hears....I wouldn't worry about it, not unless your child is exhibiting negative behavior.

Haha The song actually made me laugh!

You shouldn't be worried. Your child probably didn't mean anything bad by the "be sorry" part.. maybe just that if you aren't happy you should be sorry bc you're missing out on the fun! :) heehee

    Why would you be worried?

Your child is pretty smart. She has discovered that "sorry" is a synonym for "sad". The song makes sense; you're either happy or you're sorry, one or the other.
