It could be any number of reasons. If you start your computer in safe mode, you can start to diagnose the problem. (While starting up press F8 until a boot menu appears and choose safe mode). First thing to try: ____________________ To rule out a program hanging during startup, go to start >> run >> and type MSCONFIG Go to the "startup" tab and uncheck everything. If you successfully boot into Windows now, then it was a program hanging during startup. Go back into MSCONFIG >> startup and recheck programs you need to start on boot (e.g. Antivirus) one by one. Check one box and restart, etc. When you get to the one that makes it hang at startup you can remove that program, or reinstall it to fix the problem.
