  • some people do just that and go home to there nice warm houses at the end of the day.that not fair on the ones that rearly need help.
  • Actually I was watching something on TV that said Panhandling is VERY profitable given the right place. One guy they talked to makes over $80,000 per year. The chances for that are probably not high... but apparently it is possible!
  • It's sad to me. I know there are people who really need it, but why panhandle if you don't? I used to work in an office building downtown a few years ago. there was a regular panhandler that was outside of our building...every day, all year round. He had on nice leather loafers. In the winter, he had one of those heavy, insulated jumpsuits you see contruction workers wear. And people saw someone dropping off/picking him up in a nice car all the time. He obviously wasn't homeless. I often wondered what his story was.
  • Well, no taxes, no expenses, no training, no risk --- in some cases , sure.
  • keep in mind that the person you saw is one of many..and a minority when it comes to the lifestyle and living conditions of the homeless. panhandling can be profitable on a specific day during a specific hour...but it isnt a reliable source of income...they arent bring in a certain amount of money on a consistent basis.
  • While panhandling is profitable per se it is not easy by any means. I've known panhandlers personally and it's as hard a job as any. Panhandlers have to wake up early to catch the morning rush. They need to be friendly to their patrons to receive a lot of money. There are turf wars for the best spots and street justice not at all like justice in the normal world. You're likely to get your head smashed in with a baseball bat if you "cut someone's grass" meaning you take away their turf.
