Do you think that just because a man works an 8 hour shift and the woman stays home and takes care of the kids, that the man does his work and doesn't need to help at home?

not at all. she has been "working" all day to look after the kids! help is expected, and hopefully appreciated.

depends. my dad works 7am to 7pm, and is expected to help out when he gets home. however, mom tends to get up after my brothers have left for school, and watches tv until they get back. then, they do some of the housework, and dad has to cook dinner when he gets back in. unless the kids are young or need a lot of looking after, i don't think that balances out.

No, he should offer some kind of help because taking care of a home and kids is work too... but the woman should realize that he's bringing home the bacon.
