  • Declawing is considered by many to be inhumane. Many vets will not do it (or they'll charge ridiculous fees to do it), and in some areas it's actually illegal. Consider Soft Paws / Soft Claws instead: http://www.softpaws.com/ http://www.softclaws.com/ Edit: At the very least, keep your cat's claws trimmed. That'll help.
  • Never. Babies are liable to pull the cat's ears because they don't know any better and cats naturally lash out. Please consider a way of keeping the two apart. If that is impossible, get a water pistol and squirt the cat if she goes near the baby.
  • Of course the safety of a child is first and foremost the priority. Declawing a cat is still nonetheless barbaric.
  • Declawing a cat is a mutilation and is barbaric. It is something that leaves a cat with permanent problems, and should never be done. I believe it is illegal in the UK, and rightly so. I am appalled that so many Americans think it is just a matter of course to have this done to a cat. Please think about what it is you are proposing to do.
