Help answer this question below.

When you deposit a check for more money than you have in your account, does it take longer for the check to clear than if you had that amount in your bank account?

    It depends on the bank and your relationship with the bank. How long you've had an account etc. Sometimes a hold will be put on a check until it clears. If the check amount is greater than your existing balance the bank doesn't want to risk a loss. An overdraft can protect against this as well as your relationship with the bank.

    DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH THE CHECK IS THEY CAN PUT A 7 DAY HOLD ON IT

    Simple.

    YOu have enough to cover the check should it "Bounce" but if you don't, then they will have you wait for a bit.

    So, deposit lots of small checks instead! :)
