There really is no right or wrong answer here. Anything anyone could put down would be an opinion. So, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with a child exploring and learning about his or her body. It is quite normal for children to be curious, and it is good to develop a healthy relationship with your body as soon as possible. The only thing puberty does is give you more of a desire to masturbate what with all the hormones racing through your body. Masturbation is healthy, it is not dirty. It gets your blood flowing and your heart rate up, it's exercise really. It helps you become familiar with your body so you can learn when something is wrong. As far as health goes, no proof has been offered to show that masturbation is unhealthy.

I'm in that stage where I expecting my kids to start masturbating at any moment and I've read a lot about it and I haven't read that it is wrong or that there is a right age to do it.

It is not bad, a child is just experimenting with its body. The worst thing to do in this situation is to scold them. If your child is very young doing this, just explain to them this is something that should not be seen by others. Most girls at a very young age discover something that feels good, and its just natural.

When I was a young girl my mom said I would sit on the floor watching TV playing with myself. I can’t say I had an orgasm then but it is something I still do today usually laying in bed though. So is age ten to young to play with yourself I would say no. I have a three year old boy and he is constantly playing with his penis. When I see him doing it I tell him he needs to go to his room and do that because it is a private thing.

Should is a weird way to put it. Many ten year olds do, and there is nothing wrong with that. Parents need to talk to kids this age and let them know that there is absolutely no shame in masturbation, yet it is something private. That is a hard line to walk, because we tend to think of things that we have to hide as shameful, but its important to their development not to be brought up with guilt issues regarding sex.

It isn't a question of should, it's a question of: Is it really worth getting concerned over?= No. Infants have been noted to masturbate.
