  • well, there's plenty of inner-city places that are pretty scary in america. anyhow, i would be more concerned with some other countries, but i wouldn't worry much about her safety in england. really, i think you are bound to worry some either way; it's part of the natural process of having you kid become an independent adult.
  • I have to ask (I'm a lawyer) why is she going abroad when there are so many good schools in North America?
  • Good Lord I had a fit when I heard my daughter say she wanted to go to school In NC.,I think I would have to sit down with a paper bag if she said England!! I just dont like the separation length I guess!! I know how ya feel !! But remember what our parents said to us when we left the state ??? Anyway you know kids they change their minds more than we will ever be able to keep track of!!
  • It makes no sense to me that she would want to go study criminal justice over there unless she plans on staying. There are many aspects of criminal justice that are specific to the country (and state) she'll be working in. How to handle cases and situations will depend on the applicable laws where she is... learning the laws and proceedures in another country would not benefit her.
  • If she has the opportunity and wants to take it I would support her. I would worry less about a child of mine studying in England than in many university communities here.
  • It may be scary, but you are more likely to get hit by lightning than be killed in a terrorist attack in Europe (due to 9/11, this is not so in the states). I myself study abroad in Switzerland my younger is starting college in England in the fall, and I must say I encourage anybody with the means to do this to go ahead. It broadens your perspective so much, you'll meet new and different people, and if you're at all like most study-abroads here at my school, you'll have tons of fun.
  • Well im 19 and i visit my boyfriend in South Yorkshire, England. Its fine. They do have police there too >_> They also dont have guns, i told my mom that to ease her. Its the English parents not wanting their kids to visit the state, we have way more threats than the United Kingdom does.
