Jewel colours are deep rich brights- such as violet, emerald green, deep ruby reds and pinks, royal blue etc (usually look good on people with dark, dramatic features), classic colours are flatter versions of these- plain cherry reds, yellows, blues and sometimes also covers the neutrals (look OK on most people, but can be a bit dated and cheap looking when all worn together) neutrals include whites, creams, blacks, navies and camels, which you would normally use as base colours to team with something more colourful (e.g black trousers and royal blue sweater), or for situations where sobre or conservative dress is required. Pastels are lighter shades of the classics- pale or salmon pink, lemon yellow, mint and powder blue- usually look good with a fair complexion and blonde hair, although pale yellow complements a tan. Earth colours are those we associate with autumn rich browns, oranges, muted khaki greens and often look good on people with tanned complexions and auburn or brown hair.
