  • The consensus seems to be that it is a very harsh product because it contains benadryl peroxide. It could make your skin extremely dry and itchy not to mention some swelling. Some people say within 2 weeks it works well and takes care of acne but others say it causes it to be worse. It is important to moisturise your face well after using it. This message board gives the opinions of users of “proactiv solution” and is worth reading. http://www.acne.org/rate_item.php?item_id=91&page=52 Visible results come within 6-8 weeks on the average http://www.qvc.com/hb/hb_proactiv_qanda.html?tmp=P5&cont=icon&cm_re=PAGE-_-PROMOTIONS-_-10B:FAQS
  • I think they say to wait 2 weeks to see results. But i used AcneFree which is the same thing (3 steps..cleanser, toner, moisturizer) and if you follow the directions like i did and used it 2 or 3 times a day, everyday, My face cleared up in a week.
  • I have used proactiv for about a year now and I started seeing results fairly quickly...maybe 8 to 10 days. I didnt have "bad" acne my face just wasnt as clear as I wanted it to be. There is a cheaper brand sold at Wal Mart though and it does the same thing...AcneFree. I have used both with the same results.
  • Proactive doesn't work for everyone. No acne solution does. My dermatologist says that it's no different from any other treatment, except that it's aired so often that it's just more popular and well-know so people go for it first. I hate to burst your bubble, but Proactive might not work for you. It didn't work for me.
  • I started using proactiv the summer of 2004. I saw a difference I think within about a week. For me personally it was a miracle product, my acne cleared up like 95%. I had tried everrrrrrything before that, from off the shelf (Clean and Clear f***king tore my skin apart, I actually had to get a special cream from the doc to fix my extremely dried out face, I couldn't even open my mouth to eat because the skin would tear open and bleed it was so dry) to prescribed creams and pills from my dermatologist. However, for me and I hear for some other people with proactiv, after a while it doesn't work as well as it has. In my case it started not working as good about 2 to 2.5 years later, I noticed even tho I was using it the same amount my acne was starting to come back more. I had also bought a few other proactiv products like the deep cleansing wash and body exfoliator which are fine to use on the face. I think after a while you're skin gets so used to it it doesn't work anymore like it did in the beginning so it may need something stronger like the products for body and face not just face. Again, this is just in my situation not everyones so be careful. As with all skin care products that generally say Use once/twice a day, try it every 2nd day to see how it works and to ease into it. Hope that helped.
  • Proactive never worked for me so if you don't notice a difference in a month get your money back and try something else.
  • ive been usuing proactiv for about 1-2 weeks now and it might just be my imagination, but i think it might be making my skin worse.I have really sensitive skin.. maybe things worked for a little bit, but only made my ance worse in the end. i havent tried the pill yet, maybe i will if proactiv doesnt work out for me. 1 product that i found worked better than other, at least for me is SpectroDerm. its perfect for really senisitive skin.. i just really want a clearer face, and im very envious of all those girls who dont have to wear makeup because their face is nearly perfect. if i had a face like their, i would wear cover up.. i'd just stick to glipgloss, maybe some blush and of course eyeliner and mascara!! has anyone tried the makeup from proactive.. did you notice it helped your ance at all. and if you put makeup on after you apply proactiv, does is lower the chances of helping your face??
  • okayy, that you soo much.. i finally got this new moisturizer, so hopefully that'll help out.. and yeaa i did notice that my face was starting to get kind of itchy and dry.. ohh well i'll see how things work out. thanks for all your help :D
  • I have been using proactive for a month and a half now. I noticed a difference, actually, the first few days. Then my face became progressively worse. It's worse now then it has ever been. I have heard some people say that when they used proactive, their face became worse before it became better. But I believe proactive claims to work in a month or your money back? Not sure if that's the time period they gave for proactive to work, but if it hasn't worked yet for me, it probably isn't going too. I have tried EVERY other product out there for the treatment of acne, with the same results as the proactive. I even changed my diet, my sleep regimine, my makeup, my shampoo....everything, because I have never had problems with acne before, a pimple here or there, but that was it. I guess my next option is a dermatologist appointment and hopefully a prescription for accutane.
  • yeaa i think im going to stop usuing proactiv.. its made me face HORRIBLE.. im going try something else.. SpectroDerm helped out a lot, so maybe i'll give that an other try.
  • I'm been using proativ 2 weeks now and my face is starting out bad. how long do I really have to wait? I have the 30 day kit.
  • 7 Years and 2 days.
  • at frist my skin was healthyer...then it got worse now its clearing up but my face is dryer...im waitin to see if it works....im also using other products to speed up the process.
  • This means it can work for me?; I don't have pretty much bad acne but mostly on my cheeks I break out a lot on them, i started proactive last Thursday & unfortunately I have my time on the month on Friday; so it means I can't trust proactive at all at the moment, but the best thing that I have realized it's that my face feels extremely clean & so soft ;) it's amazing, I really want this to work;; because I know they will go away ;; this year in my junior high-school year has been stressing & mostly I believe is that I am growing up;; but yeah :'( i hope it works!
  • When I used it, I saw results within 1-2 weeks. Of course, results may vary depending on the severity of your acne. I read in a magazine that it may take up to six weeks for a new skin treatment to work. If you've been using proactiv for at least six weeks with no noticeable improvement, then you can move on to other treatments.
