Question

Help answer this question below.

I have been taking Oxycontin for several years. I want to stop taking this drug but I know that I will have withdrawls if I stop cold turkey. Is there a way I can do this without going through rehab?

Buprenorhine, aka Suboxone.....or Subutex. Go to NAABT.com and find out about it. It works, trust me - I'm on it for painkiller addiction.

Will be the best choice you've ever made.

I was addicted to Vicodin for a long time. Very similair to oxy.The drug Suboxone is a miracle for opiate dependence.

you need to find a good dr. who will gradually decrease your meds by on half of one dosage every two or three days. Thankfully i found a Dr. that said something to me besides just STOP. My 82 year old mother almost died when she accidentally forgot how much she had taken. They sent her out of the hospital with nothing. She had been taking xanax to sleep for over twenty years and pain meds for five. She didn't sleep for a week, and it was horrific what she went through, I was truly afraid for her life. Good luck...a support group will help you a lot.

Oxycontin is a strong pain killer as you know, and it is addictive, your doctor will be able to help you cut down and then stop if they think this is what is right for you, you should talk to them.

I would say the best way to do this is to slowly wean yourself off of the drug. Start taking a smaller dosage and then maybe take it every other day and then every 2 days and then every 3 days etc. Good luck.

ya i got the same problem i was doing eight 80mg a day and buying from one of my guys "300" 8s a month and it cost me $15,000 every month and went on for 8 months & i also was getting 50 more 8s from another one of my connects a month and that one only cost me $2,650 every month as well so you think you had or got a prob. shoot i really do im done to 2.5 to 3 80mg pills a day but just cant stop and bout to lose my wife & married & i have 3 kids as well.. i also have suboxsone script 90 a month, hydro 10/325mg 120 month, got every mucsle relaxer made & valiums& zanys but truthfully until you want to quit nothing will work,i been to rehab twice in last year&half and also quit for 73 days on my own year ago cold turkeying it but my sis gave me an adderall xr 20mg one per day for 9 days and that caused me to have no withdrawling pain but did have cold chills & only got bout 2 or 3 days sleep inside those 9 days, then 10th day i quit takeing adderall & was ok but no energy for another 6 days then on the 15th day i was back to normal & didnt have to find a seat every ten min of being out & about somewhere so i dont recommend that way, but it does work, i reccomend subs either suboxsone or subutex same thing really well you cant abuse suboxsone, its just to me im still having to take something to function & the treatment plans are a year long or longer so i told myself if i got to still take something everyday to keep going in life screw it im taking Os least i can enjoy the taste, feel, high,& energy level, so im in same boat im withdrawling right now thats why im up promised wife i would only take subs from now on if she would stay, so hope my personal last 12 years helped you! best way is 28 day rehab cause you are away from getting it for so long your mind forgets about easier and you wont jones as much when you get home, but rehab does suck for that long...Oh ya almost forgot to tell you the last 15 month i spent $284,000 dollars on 80mg oxy well 95% was on them 5% was perks&candy&dro&fentayl suckers 1600mcg... ok good luck, hope i will have some too!!
