Only time can actually stop it and how long it takes depends on your body size and dosage consumed. However you can make it a little more comfortable by surrounding yourself with familiar things. Being in your own room or the room of a close friend (who ISN'T also freaking out) can help. If you are with someone you trust get them to talk to you about everyday things like what you are planning to do tommorow. Make sure where you are is well lit because darkness and shadows tend to intensify hallucinations. Finally just keep reminding yourself that you have taken drugs and the weird stuff you are seeing is not real.

Don't take the drug in the first place My answer is the way to avoid a negative hallucinogenic experience it not to take hallucinogenic drugs. Okay lets put it this way. Say someone is hitting himself in the head with a hammer. Then he complains of a headache. Since there is no way to hit yourself in the head with a hammer and not feel pain the only way for him not to get a headache when he hits himself in the head is to NOT DO IT! If you choose to put poision in your system you have to live with the consequences. By the way just because you don't like an answer doesn't me it is incorrect.

Mate, be skeptical with what you read. My advice is don't trip on your own. You may suffer from anxiety attacks and don't trip in a risky area where you may suffer from paranoia. If there worst comes to the worst turn on the tv and tell youself its not real.

all you can really do is hold on and ride it out.try to keep your wits about you.

when it STARTS theres really not much you can do to make it STOP unless you are surrounded by (hopefully a little more sober than you) friends who can try to calm you down. try not to go into your high (of whatever it is) feeling anything negative. usually that leads to panic attacks and stuff like that, for me and a lot of people i know at least.

You can't stop it. Best thing to do is go to bed and try to sleep it off. Of course if you're out somewhere, this may be impossible. In that case, if you can go somewhere quiet and calm with someone who you trust to keep you company, it would help. I've comforted people who were having bad trips before, and they were grateful to have that anchor to sanity.

lol ok then put a dvd on that you know won't make you anxious or some chilled out music but yeah just never let yourself forget its not real... well not the first time atleast.

Take 5-15mg of Valium or diazepam(generic). If you go to the hospital for treatment that is also what they would give you. You will dramatically calm down, your visuals MAY still be just as intense. Next time remember how much you have taken of the substance.

With LSD, Just change your surroundings The light, the music...anything!! Even the smallest change can change your trip entirely!

I've been there. (was a recreational user for awhile). Since the likelihood of having good calming drugs like valium laying around is low, the most important thing you can do is removing stimulus. Get yourself into a quiet familiar place. Turn off any loud music, flashing lights etc. Don't sit in the dark, but keep it dim. Make sure you are as warm and comfortable as possible. If you have a sober (or at least mostly sober) friend near at hand that can sit with you that helps a lot as well, but it may last for hours so at minimum try to get someone to at least come check on you every 15 min or so if they aren't willing to sit with you. Bad trips are a nightmare you can't escape from, my last one put me off drugs permanently.

Usually (unless your real far gone) a change of where you are and what you are doing is the key to reducing the hallucinations. If you are taking a hallucinogen (LSD, ACID, blah) Then hallucinating is the point. However a "bad trip" is not the desire. Usually the mind just picks up on exterior stuff and adds to it - so if you change the data input (what you are listening to, what you are looking at) you can pretty much change the output. The 60's and the 70's came out with black light posters and "patterns" and colors - those my friend were designed as a focus for a trip. Not just as a statement of the era. Cal them safety nets if you want, but back then people starting down a bad trip would focus on some snappy poster and change the trip. If you are using another drug like meth and have picked up hallucinations (it happens after a while) then you can counter with a change in venue (what you are looking at/listening too) or you can try to "come down" by smoking pot (Pot only, heroine and speed mixed can kill you). Drinking alcohol might help too, more of an iffy thing depending on what kind of drunk you are. Prevention is usually the real key. Where you use, who you use with and the outside data can make or break the trip. If you are having aural (sound) hallucinations then you can cover them up with organized sound. dude that means turn on some music and rock out. If they are visual then your best bet is to close your eyes. If its paranoia (they are looking at me, somebody is outside the window) then you are pretty much SOL - looking out the window although rationally would help will actually feed the hallucination, while not looking will not help either. As an aside. Those who use speed (meth tina whatever) in public (raves, at other people's houses) tend to reach the hallucination stage faster than those who party at home. Number one cause is being out there you can not control the surroundings - its easier to imagine there are cameras in the walls elsewhere instead of being at home where you know for a fact there are no cameras.

it's really imposible to stop the trip but you can transform it if there are your friends around you try to talk about something funny, after you laugh once it's very easy to get into giggling state you also can chant mantras or say prayers, they are more potent when you are tripping and can change your bad trip into wonderful spiritual insight, if you don't like mantras and prayers, you can sing your favourite song , play guitar or do other activities that usually makes youu feel good. sometimes it seems that you can't move, but you must try, don't lie in a bed it makes the trip even stronger, after you stand up you realize that you can walk even dance, going for a walk makes most people feel much better
