Why do most people speak the language spoken around them instead of just vocalizing sounds that just feel good and right to them?

F**k society. I try to do my own thing. I guess other people conform as to not be left out of some kind of club type of thing and not to be made fun of.

So that they could co-mingle with people without problem and do not have people hate them. "Strength by greater number" sums it up.

It makes sense on many levels:

    * Its easier to go with the flow and swim downstream/ follow the path of least resistance. Salmon are remarkable because of their oddness.

    * When you don't know which way to run, it's probably a good idea to run in the same direction as everyone else.

    * Someone who is not a team-player (who refuses to play nicely/ co-operate with others) breaks down the fabric and efficiency of the team ...and lets face it he's a pain in the ass and will therefore be shunned by others.

Contrary to the pseudo-philosophies of cannabis-enthusiasts and suburban teens, society is actually a good thing. Simply put, it works.
If you claim to be a counterculturist, you're likely lying to yourself. Wearing dark clothes with fingerless gloves and listening to really loud, unpopular music doesn't cut it. Sorry.

It seems clear that there is an unconscious herdlike nature to humans. There are, of course, many influences in specific cases, but even the apparantly most independent of individuals make rather strange & conforming decisions on occasion.

Most people conform to society because they need and want acceptance of the people. Some are just too scared to act like how they really feel.

Socialization is the process through which people learn the expectations of society. Through socialization, people internalize cultural expectations, then pass these expectations on to others. Internalization occurs when behaviors and assumptions are learned so thoroughly that people no longer question them.

Becuase the alternatives to conformity require much thought, leadership, confidence, and any other good trait a person can hold.Correct thinking is hard in itself, but to put correct thinking into action and see it through to its inevitable failure is insanity to most. It's just simpler to continue to build on thoughts that are already out there.Hooray for simplicity:)

I think people have got too much of all this stuff about "conforming" or "nonconformism" floating around in their heads. In the grand scheme of things- does it really matter? Does it actually REALLY matter!? I don't think so. I always think it's funny when people feel they have to dress in a certain way or whatever else to portray "their difference" from this image of "society" they have in their head. It's not as if the world would work without "society" being how it is anyway; it's how it is for a reason. Plus, it's not as if people who feel they should not conform are gonna float off anywhere onto a planet where everyone is non conformist. There are 6 billion + people, each with their own minds in their own head- resulting in everyone being the same anyway.

Conformity is a human natrue trait. When we are born we are preconditioned to confromity. Our parents start us off by telling us not to do this not to do that. They tell us the family only does this here or there or the family never does that. It goes on to school where teachers tell us how to behave and then to work with employers. Conformity is not a bad thing. Conformity is telling drivers how to drive so we all are one unit and can work together to keep each other safe on the road. However the problem is the powerful exploit the human nature of conformity and twist it into something it's not. Conformity is a design set of rules set up for individuals to follow guidelines to be a cohevisive unit/ group. However when you outright tell people or covertly construct a system where people become subservent to the system they conform to thats where problems arise. That's when you use conformity to advance slavery, to wage wars, to convince people a segment of society should be hated. It is important to realize the difference of being a member of society and a slave to society. A member of society will be allowed to question conformity efforts whereas slaves are told to be quiet and not question the war on terror err I mean question the efforts of conformity of their society

Because a great deal of people are afraid of wandering outside the little circle the media has created because today's society has been blinded with fancy smartphones, expensive clothing and a bunch of other things that simply make us look "cool" according to television commercials, store advertisements and other things that according to what life is really made of will never make the grade.People are forgetting that we are freaking humans, capable of so many things that don't consist of having a 4g phone or none of that crap. People with real personalities don't care about conforming to every tiny detail that is posted on facebook because as they contribute to the medias they just forget whom they are but they don;t care because they get plenty of comments on facebook telling them that they look "HOT" while they're at it.

Construct of nurture, they have evolved in the environment of society and therefore have always functioned within it. To see past society and live a free life independent of social infrastructure is a hard thing to do! Especially if you need money to survive!

Why not buy an acre of jungle and live 100% sustainably, independently of all infrastructures, dependent only on yourself and nature?

You would probably have to conform to society to gain the means to do so, but its a means to freedom!

they're afraid of being different, of being so out of the loop that they'll have no one to talk to. all people want(i think NEED is the right word here) a freind(although what kind of friend would u have if ur not urself around them??)because they can't bear the thought of being lonely or alone in the world. they see that the only way to get people to like them is to conform(the words "peer pressure" spring up to mind here) so that's why they do it. "society"(if u want to call it that)/ people always say: dont judge a book by its cover yet you have them doing it all the time... i guess people never learn from their mistakes... or they CHOOSE not to

Conforming to some extent is pretty normal as one has to deal with people all the time. When conforming to society is damaging your own personal life then you've simply gone too far. It can be absolutely destructive. Conforming within reason is probably the best plan. It shouldn't be allowed to control your life.

you prob see the way some ppl act as conforming, but tbh it's jst the way ppl act that comes most comfortable to them, and the way society has evolved to adaprt to what feels comfortable for people, i mean if everyone jst did what they wanted then there would be chaos, but in a way if everyone did that, then that would be conforming, wouldn't it?
