Goldfish will mature at about 1 year of age but they are in their breeding prime at about 3-4 years. TO get them to be in breeding 'mood', lower the water to about 60°F for a week or two and then raise it to over 70°F. That will get them thinking that spring has arrived. Right after spawning happens, remove all the fish because they will try to eat the spawn as soon as they see them! The eggs hatch very soon, between 3-4 days.
