No, Mossad has no relationship to Masada.
The name is an abbreviation for the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations or Ha'mosad le'Bitahon U'le'tafkidim Meyuhadim, which is commonly rendered as Mossad in English. A more detailed description of their role and how they came into being is provided on their website: http://www.mossad.gov.il/ (and, yes, there is an English section).
No -- the forterss is, properly, Metzada (fortress) while the Mossad is just the Hebrew word for institute. he words are not connected or spelled the same in Hebrew.

I haven't heard of that connection before. Since I've been to Masada on tour, I think they would have told us that.

You're reading Is Mosad, the Israeli Intellegence service, named after Masada, the fortress where a band of Jews famously held back the Roman legions?
