Inhumane is a definition that is made up by humans. Its a general opinion that differs from person to person. Branding livestock has been a technique used for ages in many ranches and farms. But I do think methods such as dying the coat are less painful from the animals point of view.

I'm sure it would hurt if somebody did it to me, so I do think it's inhumane. Dyes would be just as effective.
