  • Not much is known about his mother. Heritage-wise Donald Trump's parents had roots in Scotland, where Mary MacLeod was born, and in Kallstadt, Germany, where Fred Charles's father Friedrich, was born. http://www.magazineusa.com/us/info/show.aspx?unit=originals&doc=502 All that’s known about his mother Mary Macleod is that she was born on 10 May 1912 in Isle of Lewis, Scotland. She died on 7 Aug 2000 at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY. Fred Trump and Mary Macleod were married in Jan 1936 in New York City, NY. They had five children. “As a child, Donald Trump's parents sent him to military school because he was considered to be "a bit out of control." He ended up becoming a star cadet at the New York Military Academy and then went on to the Wharton School of Finance in Philadelphia. He was well on his way to becoming one of the most well-known business tycoons in the country.” http://www.biography.com/tv/listings/trump_d_new.html Side note: Donald Trump’s grandfather was a true American entrepreneur. Immigrating to America in 1885, he began his fortune running the Arctic Restaurant and Hotel in Bennett, British Columbia, Canada during the Klondike Gold Rush. Hope this helps.
  • The simple answer is no, she wasn't from a wealthy family. She was brought up in the village of tong on the isle of lewis, which is in the western isles of scotland. The people of lewis were all poor in these days, striving to earn a living from fishing and crofting, and mostly with large families to feed. Many women and men emigrated to the usa for a better life. It would appear that Mary Macleod was one of these people who sought a better standard of living in the new world. I have an elderly aunt who is her first cousin. A.M.
