  • In my opinion, you should receive SS benefits according to what you've earned/paid in.
  • You have to pay a certain amount into the system before you are eligible for SS. If you haven't payed in the required amount then you aren't going to get SS. You can apply for SSI, however. The amount you get is based the amount you pay into the system.
  • Aside from the house spouse, social security is specifically relegated to those that put into the system. As for spouses, if you have been married at LEAST a certain amount of time, then you are entitled to your working spouse's benefits. In the instance of a young house spouse whose primary means of support unfortunately passed away before there was sufficient funds put into the program, the government does expect you to go back to work. Then again, in this country, there is always the welfare system. It apparently has plenty of money in it, considering that several persons make a pretty decent living duping it.
  • No. You only get what you paid into your social security account. Read the statement you get from the Social Security Administration. If you don;t get one, then ask a friend who makes more money than you to let you see theirs. You will note, it says if you keep contributing at this rate, by the time you retire you will get xx.xx amount of dollars a month. Thus if you don't contribute, you don't get anything.
  • If say....you were a stay at home spouse, and stayed home to care for kids and take care of the house. Yeah you should because That is a 24 hour job. You can't go home from being a stay at home spouse. And you put in hours that no job can legally ask for.
  • Many of the poor work very hard and yes they are entitled to SS benefits as they should. Their pay may be very low but while working they paid into the system.
  • If you work and pay into the system you will get some benefits if you have paid into the system long enough. If you have not, unfortunately for those who are housewives or husbands, you do not get credit for this work. In the past, there has been attempts by lawmakers to make this a reality but it has not worked so far. Here is a link that will answer your questions more completly: www.ssa.gov
