    G'day Anonymous,

    Thanks for your question.

It seems that you can or at least a wallaroo which is a type of kangaroo. Schreiner Farms in Washington (presumably state) are the people to contact. You may also wish to check what the rules are concerning pets in your local area.

I have attached a source for your reference.

    1) The other question is if it really would be a good idea...

It should be legal to keep Wallaroes (Wallabies), at least in some states.

    Here some information about it:

    2) "In 2005, Hilton got in some trouble with animal authorities.

The first incident involved Hilton purchasing a kinkajou. The animal, Baby Luv had to be given up because it was illegal to be owned as a pet. The second instance involved Hilton attempting to own a baby kangaroo as a pet, which she purchased in Australia."

I hope you have some land, because it's always a good idea when dealing with wild animals to give them some room.

Think hard before you take on something like this as a pet. If you have no experience with animals then get a cat or dog. If you've been on a farm or ranch and have dealt with a variety of less tame animals then you're probably better suited.

Kangaroos, even the small ones are not defenseless. They can really hurt you if you get kicked by them.

Practically all wild animals are unpredictable and can be dangerous.
