First of all, Cain was the unrighteous son of Adam and Eve. Therefore, his children would have been raised in wickedness and would not have been the sons of God. Seth was the righteous Son that was born after Cain slew Abel. One interpretation of this account is that the righteous descendants of Seth were seduced by wicked descendants of Cain and thus led away from the right path into wickedness. Another interpretation is that the sons of God were fallen angels. As far as I know there is no consensus among the Bible scholars on this. Neither. The "sons of God" are the descendants of Seth. The "daughters of men" are the descendants of Cain. Both of these wide grouping labels are not necessarily restricted to gender. If you pursue a strict contextual understanding of Genesis 6:1-2 based on the immediate two chapters, the context would favor the "sons of God" being the godly lineage of Seth and the "daughters of men" being the secular lineage of Cain. I'll explain: Genesis 4 records Cain's descendants, who were the first to make tents, farm cattle, build cities (or villages), create musical instruments, metallurgy, etc. In other words, Cain's descendants could well be considered the founders of "secularization" or the secular society. Genesis 5 records Seth's descendants, who were the first that began to "call on the name of the Lord." This godly lineage included Enoch who walked with God and was translated. So while you have Cain and his descendants building a secular existence, you have Seth and his descendants "calling on the name of the Lord" (Genesis 4:26). Hence, if you take these two chapters Genesis 4 & 5 in context, then Genesis 6:1-2 makes great sense in explaining just who the "sons of God" (the godly lineage of Seth) and the "daughters of men" (the secular lineage of Cain) are.

I believe the sons of God are angels in Gen 6. In 1 Peter 3:19-20 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. Here we have v19. spirits in prison [prison=hell] that Christ went to and preached sometime after His death and before resurection. [I dont believe Christ suffered in Hell Cause what He did on the cross was enough] V20. States these spirits or angels were disobedient during the days of Noah. 2Peter 2;4-5 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; Here we have again Peter mentions in 2Peter 2;4 that God cast angels down to hell. V5. We conclude from this verse it was during the days of Noah. In Jude [Jesus half brother]we have even more evidence. Jude 6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. These same angels in Jude that are cast to hell reserved for judgement. Why are they cast to hell? Jude says they kept not their first estate for leaving their own habitation. [basically they left angelhood to sleep with earthen women] Jude is also quoting from the book of Enoch which he also quotes in v14-15 14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him . The book of Enoch found also with Dead Sea Scrolls even states the name of the angels that slept with women Enoch says the angels had children with these women and that they were giants namely the giants mentioned in Gen 6. V4.There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.These men were renown for wickedness. Thus the flood. I believe that Satan wanted to destroy and taint the blood line that Christ would be born into one day. The message Jesus preached in hell I believe was to tell those angels that they could not stop Jesus from saving His people from their sins. The End

According to Perry Stone Jr (www.VOE.com) the "Sons of God" were angels in human disguise who feel in love or lust with the young girls & women there in Israel or the Middle east. These angels married these varied women and made babys from them... These babys were called 'Anakim" and they would later be the ancestors of Goliath.... Fallen Angels. The offspring were the Nephlim (giants). (Mighty men of old). They were trying to interfere with the lineage of Jesus. To prevent God's plan of salvation. That is why we had the flood of Noah.-To rid the world of Nephlim. -- Offspring of Cain would not be any larger than any of Seth or Adam and Eve's other children.

Well the Bible makes it very clear - they were the sons of god, nothing more, nothing less. The Bible describes several different gods, some of which were more fond of the pleasures of the flesh.
