Is it true that there are no mosquitos in France? If so, why is this?

    I've never seen more mosquitoes than when I was in France. Believe me there are millions of them.

    This is not true. West Nile Virus is a disease that is transmitted via the saliva of female mosquitoes, and and West Nile infections of horses were reported from France in the 1960s and more recently.

    just got back from Paris. My husband has nine huge mosquito bites all over his neck and face and I have five huge bites on my arms and upper back. We left the window open in hotel for the fresh air! Big mistake. We thought we swatted all of them before we went to bed but obviously we missed at least one!! They are horrendous bites, too. One of them is as big as a quarter. They are big red lumps and their itch is fierce!!
