I moved 30 miles away from my old school. Turns out we are moving out of state this summer, and I'd like to go back to my old school for second semester to be with my good friends before we move. Parents would pay for my gas. Should I do it?

30 miles = 30 minutes by freeway or an hour by surface streets. The dedication is up to you. This is high school and your friends now will likely stay friends if you want them to, even if you move. With the advent of facebook and other networking devices, you probably won't be far from your closest friends and can easily schedule hook ups when you get back into town. However, consider that after graduation you will be separated from your friends irregardless of whether you go back now. Taking the approach that will save gas, save time, and save stress will be a rehearsal for inevitable separation in the future. The way I see it, while I might go to school with my friends, I won't be able to hang out with them for very long because unless I find a place to sleepover, it's a commute back to the homestead. If you can find friends to crash with on weekdays and occasional weekends, by all means, do so. But if its just because of separation anxiety, remember that no matter where you go, friends will be found. <Invite your buddies to answerbag!>
