Check the yellow pages, for traffic lawyers. Some will give free info over the phone. Maybe you can plead guilty and request traffic school, in exchange for a penalty reduction, ie., fines and/or points.

Well, hiring an attorney is expensive, also. either way, its going to cost you. depending on your past driving record, i would appear in court and ask to attend the defensive driving class. you will have to plead guilty. this is the cheapest route to take. the class will cost about 25 dollars. this is cheaper than an attorney. once you complete the class, your citation will be dismissed and your auto insurance saved.

You can also plead your case to the judge yourself, explaining you are financially strained. Many judges will set up a payment plan of so much per month and this is done fairly commonly. And if you can't afford to pay traffic fines, may I suggest you stop driving recklessly?

The attorneys fee will only enhance your total cost of the citation. was this a regular speeding citation or a state citation? A regular citation, depending on your past driving record, should allow you to attend a four hour defensive driving class. A state citation is much more serious. you will have to appear in general sessions court to enter a plea. the cost and fines vary from state to state. in Tennessee a state citation for reckless driving could cost you $1,000 to $2,000.00 and your drivers license revoked. Either way, its a serious charge.
