  • Yep its possible you have to be very active and eat at least almost correctly. I lost 30 in about 3 months walking everyday. Then I came back home and well I gained 10 back. lol :-/ I need to actually start exercising more.
  • I lost 35 walking 12-20 miles a day with a 40-60 lb backpack up and down mountains 6 days a week for 205 days. 8 yrs later and I've only gained back 50. ;-)
  • It is absolutely possible. I'm doing it right now. I started training in January and I've lost 40ish pounds since then. It's very hard at the beginning and that's when your will power is tested the most. After you start seeing results, you'll be hooked! There's no such thing as the perfect diet or workout or such. Every person is different and has different metabolism and needs. Just experience with different training regimes and eating habits and the scale will tell you when you found the right one! I did. Good luck.
  • Yes, it's possible. Losing weight at about 2-3 lbs per week is a good way to lose it permanently, without the yo-yo effect. Just eat healthy, don't starve yourself, and ease into a good exercise routine, don't overdo it. 40 lbs in 4 months is a really healthy, reasonable goal. Good for you!
  • Can you and should you are two different things. Assuming you only want to lose *fat* and not water or muscle (the healthiest way to a maintainable weight loss), you should aim for no more than two pounds per week. More than that, and you are likely losing water and muscle (of which the water weight will come back but the loss of muscle will slow your metabolism and cause you to lose more slowly or even gain weight back). You must create a deficit of 3,500 calories to lose one pound of fat. So if you cut calories by about 500 a day while simultaneously burning 500 additional calories, you'll create a 7,000 calorie deficit in a week and lose two pounds. Even this, kept up for four months is very hard on the body. Proper nutritional choices is paramount! It is always healthier to burn the weight off as opposed to over-restricting calories. You'll become much leaner and look much slimmer, even at a higher weight, very fast. I highly recommend burnthefat.com for a sound nutritional/exercise plan that works for life. It explains why some tactics don't work, and even has excellent advice on turbo charging your metabolism, overcoming plateaus and obstacles. No drugs. No pills. Real food. 100% healthy.
  • Thank You all for your encouragement. I didnt think 2-3 pounds a weeks which varies and is not always the same.. was alot to expect. Thank You Missy. Its good to know that I am being routed for. I am psyched. I go to Weight Watchers weigh in tomorrow and I think.. I lost 3 pounds. The first three weeks they say are the most per week expectancy. This will be 5 ish pounds in two weeks. I want to be back to a normalish range by my birthday January 25th. Then.. I will have half way more to go.. another 40 to go to goal weight. Eeeks.. but.. it goes fast. I am big on pie and cookies and ice cream. However.. weight watchers offers some one point ice creams that taste like you are missing nothing. I can basically eat whatever i want as long as I write it down. If i screw up now and then.. heck.. I am human. At least i am trying.
