Stableboy has recently resigned as a Community Leader. Who would like to join me in thanking him for the all of the wonderful volunteer service he has provided to Answerbag thus far?

    Since so many people have chimed in with kind words, I guess I owe a bit of explanation:

    I love Answerbag, and I want the best for the community. I think the best CLs are those who are patient, kind, and frankly... uncontroversial choices. LynfromNM is a perfect example -- somebody who never loses her temper, can always be counted on to listen, and earns the respect of everyone.

    As much as I appreciate the nice things people here have said about me, the fact remains that I'm quite outspoken and there are quite a few people on Answerbag who consider me to be a detriment to the community. Obviously I disagree, but that makes it a problem for me to hold the CL role -- it's divisive.

    In addition, I feel obliged as a CL to moderate my own postings more than I did before having that role, and a number of users want to manipulate by grabbing the CL handle and twisting it. All in all, I was finding it to be a significant irritant.

    I think the CL role is a good thing, it's solved some regular problems we used to have with trolls, etc. But now it's clear to me that I'm not the guy for that role, and I think the community is well served by the other CLs we have already.

    Yes I would. I remember how excited you were to be appointed. I am appreciative of the way you handled your position. You were unbiased and restrained. I'm sad the pressures of the position became a burden for you.

    It will however be nice to see you back to your feisty self now that you are free to speak openly, so I suppose this is a positive change for all of us and you.

    Thanks for making a positive impact upon the AB community. I'm sorry the stress got to you. I bet you feel relieved of a terrible burden. I'm sure there will be someone else just as honorable as you to take up the call. I know of at least 50 others that would be good as well so have a great time in your new comfort.

    I can only concur with the 100% positive responses this question has received - many thanks, SB. The only down side I saw to your CL role was the natural limit that set on your time with the rest of us.

    I hope this is a 'welcome back' and you should know it's with open arms, I suspect from (almost) all of us. I hope I can look forward to your unique brand of common sense, sensible compassion and good judgement making it's presence felt on AB again.

    I think you've managed to serve and protect, humor and refine many a post in a most excellent manner...with the possible exception to a particular SOUP...which shall remain nameless....and that debacle might well come under HUMOR...so is therefore exempt from critique!

    Doubtless...time is a factor...however I count on you, as do many here...in NOT being a stranger to the cause...at least...not any stranger than any of us have been or seek to be in the future!
