I'm not sure they have a mascot(??) At least not at any games I've seen (Kings fan) They started up in the 2000-2001 season A "Wild" is a team name that you come up with when even the "Ducks" are taken (just kidding) I don't know, judging by their logo, it's supposed to be wilderness I guess. I keep forgetting to listen to what they call individual players, it's easy with the Kings and most other teams (Two Kings bothering the goalie, penalty too many Red Wings on the Ice) Even the Avalanche, which normally would be just as difficult, have come up with Avs when they want to talk about their players. I guess Wildlings would sound goofy haha

Chezter is right about when they were founded and I'm not sure exactly what a "wild" is, but their mascot is a bear. What is a redwing? A wheel with wings?

There is no one "wild." Collectively, they are "The Wild", as in "the ones who are wild." This is similar to "the forgotten," "the unknown," "the crazy."

They have a walrus, they have a bear, they a wolve . . . they joined the league in 2000 in 2000 after the North Stars moved to Dallas. A Wild is the wild.
